Also, please read the lengthy, but detailed description** BACKGROUND STORY BEHIND THIS AMAZING PIECE OF NHL HISTORY: This is not a jacket one buys at Caesars Palace or some other similar place. This jacket was given to my husband back in the 1990s. Several scouts had been watching him play hockey in college. He was one of the best, which was noticed. A couple teams showed interest in him. Yet, at the young age of 23, he received THE call, asking if he wanted to play for the Panthers. Without hesitation, his answer was “YES!” Within hours of taking the phone call, the NHL drafted him. Four days after he was drafted this jacket along with a jersey were sent to him courtesy of the National Hockey League and the Florida Panthers. This jacket has been a lot of places and met a lot of talented individuals. For the better half of a decade, my husband wore it most days of the week. If the jacket could speak, it would have a lot of incredible stories to tell. MATERIAL: I cannot entirely make out exactly what is shown on the faded material tag. I can make out “Leather decor,” “100% Cotton,” and “Professionally clean leather.” However, the front of the coat and back of the coat (black areas) are wool or a wool blend. (It’s a fairly heavy jacket.) Roughly 3/4 of the sleeves, collar, upper back, as well as the shoulders are genuine leather. Again, from what I can make out, the material tag says something about “100% cotton.” I can only assume that the insulation material is cotton. The red quilted lining itself feels and looks like silk - it could be rayon. I’m uncertain. BLEMISHES: Yes, this (almost) 30 year-old jacket has some imperfections. It was well loved and worn for many years. As a result, there’s some creases and areas on the leather that have lost their color. It should be further noted that on the quilted red satin lining fabric is worn (mostly on the inside of the jacket around the neck line). The wear appears as though the material is overly stretched (pictured). The jacket has some flaws, but by no means is unusable. It still gets plenty of attention! Additionally, there are some spots on the quilted red satin lining that have black coloring of some unknown nature on it (pictured). We have not tried to remove the black colored marks. Therefore, we’re not positive, but the discolored patches on the lining could possibly come out if professionally cleaned. Or, if one wanted perfection, the lining might be able to be replaced. Furthermore, there is wear around the cuffs on both sleeves (some fraying etc - feel free to request additional pictures). ACCENTS: The large logo patch with the Panther on the back of the jacket, as well as the sewn fierce cat on the upper left front & the “Eastern NHL Conference” stitch work on the sleeve make the jackets’ distinguishable decorative needlework stand out. The patches are in good condition. It has a full snapback button closure. Lastly, there are three pockets total. Two on the front and one on the inside. However, when buying pre-owned items it should be taken into consideration that they are vulnerable to various degrees of discoloration, loose threads, marks, scuffs, and other signs of wear. >>The jacket is described & pictured in the condition it is in. Personally, I would consider the jacket to be in good-fair condition. It could be worn or displayed. It has held up through several decades & many adventures. It continues to withstand the test of time.<< PLEASE NOTE: Although similar jackets could be purchased from various places they generally are not wool & leather (usually cotton & leather). Additionally, they do not have all the patches this piece does, they lack the quilted red lining, and the pockets are noticeably different. This jacket was sent directly to my husband from the NHL/Florida Panthers. Unlike some of the other Panther jackets I’ve seen from this era, this piece has the “National NHL Conference” patch on the left sleeve as well as the distinct red quilted satin lining previously mentioned. *A signature will be required upon delivery* ** Please feel free to message me if you have any questions before purchasing **
